Many of the problems found in children’s feet are associated with growth and development as well as overuse, weight gain and postural changes.

Some changes in children’s feet are part of natural development and others require professional attention and treatment.

At H & D we frequently advise parents who are concerned about the development of their children’s feet. Compromised posture, pain or unusual walking patterns are other reasons why they will consult the practice. Often only reassurance and postural exercise is required but sometimes specialised orthoses or other forms of treatment are indicated. In some instances computerised gait analysis is required to study a child’s walking pattern so as to determine the extent of the problem.

Some children present with deformities and lesions such as verrucae which are commonly treated at the practice.

Maintaining and caring for a child’s feet will benefit their health, mobility, and well- being throughout their lives.
